After a season full of surprises, Peacemaker Season 2 came to an end with an action-packed finale that featured several references and Easter eggs to other DC films and comics. While some fans felt that the finale could have done more compared to the rest of the season, the Easter eggs stood out and added plenty of excitement for viewers.
List of key DC easter eggs in Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 8
Here are some of the major Easter Eggs from Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 8:
- Big Belly Burger
A notable reference in the finale showed Chris and Emilia eating at Big Belly Burger. In fact, this restaurant is a staple of DC Comics and has appeared in Superman and the Arrowverse. - LuthorCorp Employees
After the previous episode introduced Sydney Happersen, this episode featured other LuthorCorp employees. These included Otis Berg, Amanda McCoy, and Ms. Jessop. - Black Hole
The finale of Peacemaker Season 2 gave a glimpse at a black hole. This black hole resembled the one that nearly tore apart Metropolis in Superman. - Planet Salvation
In the finale of Peacemaker Season 2, ARGUS and LuthorCorp find an uninhabited planet, which they decide to call Planet Salvation. Moreover, they plan to turn it into an inescapable prison world for metahumans. This, in fact, is a direct reference to 2007’s Salvation Run storyline. - Arkham Asylum/Belle Reve
Both Arkham Asylum and Belle Reve are referenced in the finale of the show. They are classic prisons from the DC universe and have appeared in almost all kinds of media before. - Secretary of Defense
Apart from the employees of LuthorCorp, the Secretary of Defense from Superman also makes an appearance in the finale, further entwining the worlds. - Checkmate
Taking a page out of the comics once again, the finale saw the 11th St. Kids building their own agency named Checkmate. They were joined by Agents Bordeaux and Fleury, along with Judomaster, reinforcing the team’s new formation. The comic variation of the group was an independent shadow agency of Task Force X. Interestingly, this version seems to be an agency with much more positive ideals. It clearly sets itself apart in tone and purpose. - Foxy Shazam
Apart from all the comic references, the finale also featured an interesting meta reference. In particular, Foxy Shazam appeared live in the finale, and the band’s ‘Oh Lord’ serves as the title credit for the show.
With all these references, Peacemaker Season 2 connects well with the rest of the DCU. Moreover, there is much to explore in the Peacemaker universe, and hopefully, there will be a Season 3 announcement soon.
