Has Chris Pratt been fired from Marvel?

No, Marvel has not fired Chris Pratt.

In the last few days, Pratt has found himself at the center of yet another controversy. On September 11, 2025, the Marvel actor took to his X account to offer condolences to Charlie Kirk’s family. The post was in response to Kirk being shot dead at a public debate event on the Utah Valley University campus.

The post said, “Praying for Charlie Kirk right now, for his wife and young children, for our country. We need God’s grace. God help us.”

His post went viral and has garnered over 59.8 million views since. Along with the virality came all the backlash for the actor. The post attracted criticism from those who opposed Kirk’s political views. Many fans felt disappointed when Pratt offered his condolences.

This urged many users to demand that Marvel and Disney drop Pratt from their future movies. While these demands have attracted attention online, Marvel and Disney have issued no official statements about Pratt being fired.

While Pratt hasn’t responded to the controversy, on September 14, 2025, he uploaded a video on his Instagram account. In the video, he urged everyone to join him in a prayer and continued to read a few verses from the bible.

After finishing his prayer, Pratt concludes the video with a message. “Now, you can continue scrolling or turn your phone off and go outside,” Pratt said, addressing the viewers. “Might I suggest the latter?” he added.

“Go get some sunshine, go look at a tree, touch some grass [or] call a friend,” the Guardians of the Galaxy actor continued. “If you’ve got time to be on your phone right now, you’ve got time to do your to-do list, and you’ve got time to reach out to somebody in need. Share this prayer with them.”

In contrast to the response to his X post, his followers on Instagram have shown support and thanked him for speaking out.
