Which South Park Episodes Are Banned & How to Watch Them?

South Park has effectively made its transition to Paramount+ from HBO Max, and though most of the series transferred without a hitch, five episodes from the show were not picked up by the new streamer. These five banned episodes do not have a place at Paramount+, so where can fans catch them now? There is only one official way.

Which 5 South Park Episodes are banned?

South Park has a lot of content that can be considered offensive or controversial. At least, it could hurt the sentiments of one group of people or another. But five episodes could, and previously have, caused a bigger stir. These five episodes feature the Muslim prophet Muhammad. Due to the kind of reactions it can incite, these five episodes are deemed too controversial for any mainstream platform.

These are-

  • Season 5 Episode 3 – Super Best Friends
  • Season 10 Episode 3 – Cartoon Wars Part I
  • Season 10 Episode 4 – Cartoon Wars Part II
  • Season 14 Episode 5 – 200
  • Season 14 Episode 6 – 201

Interestingly, when ‘Super Best Friends’ first aired in 2001, it was not considered as controversial as it is considered today. It was pulled out when 200 and 201 were released. The two-part Cartoon Wars saga was also pulled for the same reason.

200 and 201 were considered particularly controversial. These episodes are considered two of the finest in the show’s history and have even resulted in the creators receiving multiple death threats.

How to watch the banned South Park episodes?

Sadly, the only official way to watch these five banned episodes of South Park is the old-fashioned way. Fans can still purchase DVDs of the episodes or seasons. For instance, the Seasons 1-26 box set is now available at Walmart for $125, and stand-alone seasons are even cheaper.

Viewers only need seasons 14, 10, and 5 to catch these five episodes.

Apart from these episodes, all the other episodes have successfully transitioned to Paramount+, where fans can continue to stream the show.
