Netflix just dropped Part 2 of Wednesday Season 2, and fans can’t stop talking about the shocking finale. For years, he’s been the Addams family’s loyal right-hand man, but the show just revealed he’s connected to Isaac Night.

Back in the day, Morticia chopped Isaac’s hand off before his death, and it somehow reanimated to become the quirky, lovable companion fans know as Thing. To make it even more apparent, the show drops a big clue that “Thing” is an anagram of “Night.”
The reveal happens in the finale when Isaac (Owen Painter) finally pulls off his glove to show his missing hand. He then reattaches Thing, regaining his full strength as a Da Vinci. Painter admitted he intentionally kept his hand hidden all season to make the payoff worth it. And the creative team pulled off the twist as co-creator Miles Millar said to Netflix they wanted to give fans “the idea of the origin story of Thing and surprise the audience.”
But Isaac’s reunion with his hand doesn’t last long. Once he reclaims Thing, he tries to use it to destroy the Addams family. That’s when the real heartbreak hits, and Thing refuses to stay with Isaac. In a big fight, Thing rips out Isaac’s clockwork heart, killing him once and for all. Then, in a jaw-dropping sequence, Thing detaches from Isaac’s corpse and rushes back to Wednesday and her family.
To seal the deal, Thing rejects Isaac’s ring, which is a symbol of the Night family legacy, and chooses his own identity. For fans, it was the ultimate reminder that Thing has always been an Addams, no matter where he came from.
