The latest season follows Dream, who reunites with his family, but instantly faces a barrage of difficult decisions. This happens as he makes every effort to save those affected by the consequences of his past mistakes. This also includes the suffering endured by his former lover, Nada. As a result, he embarks on a redemption journey to right his wrongs and also confronts several allies and enemies.

Here are all the details on what made Dream commit this horrific action against his lover.

Why did Dream send Nada to hell in The Sandman Season 2?

It’s revealed that when Nada turns down his proposal of ruling the Dreaming with him, Dream sends her to hell.

Nada ruled the First People tribe before being sent to hell. She was a mortal known for her courage and beauty. She instantly catches the attention of Dream when she unintentionally enters Dreaming.

Dream started developing feelings for her. However, their romance was forbidden, given that a mortal and an immortal’s union could disrupt the cosmic balance. The consequences of their forbidden love were evident when a meteor struck the city, killing people. Nada’s guilt then drove her to take her own life.

After she joined the Afterlife, Dream followed her and made her a surprising proposal. He requested that she rule with him in Dreaming. However, she rejected it, as she believed that being with him could potentially cause more destruction. Dream didn’t take her rejection nicely and banished her to hell for 10,000 years instead.

Later, he spoke to his other Endless siblings, realizing he had been so wrong to put Nada through this misery. In The Sandman Season 2, Episode 3, it’s learned that Dream did try to rescue Nada. But, she again turned him down and ensured he realized the pain she suffered from all these years. However, this time, Dream doesn’t take her rejection to heart and deals with the matter more maturely, understanding that her anger towards him is relevant.
