Why Is [Spoiler] Making Deals in Ironheart? What Does He Want?

Mephisto has finally arrived in the MCU with the final episode of Ironheart, and it seems that his story goes deeper than what originally meets the eye. Mephisto ended up playing a key part in the finale as he made a deal with Riri Williams. But what does Mephisto really want? He is seemingly offering people their heart’s desire in exchange for “something they won’t miss.”

Mephisto’s deals and goals in Ironheart explained

Quite clearly, the “thing they won’t miss” is their souls. Mephisto is giving people their heart’s desire and some impossible chances in life in exchange for taking over their souls. This is clearly the case for Parker Robbins, whose undoing is quite evident throughout the series.

While most things about Mephisto remain unclear, it is evident that he is collecting souls from mortals. In the comics, this practice makes his dark powers stronger. Perhaps by collecting enough souls, he will grow much stronger and eventually dominate the underworld.

Mephisto also reveals that William Shakespeare was among those who traded their soul for greatness. So it is possible that Mephisto has been trading souls for gifts for a long, long time. Perhaps that is what has made him so strong. That would mean he hopes to become even stronger now.

There were strong hints in Ironheart that other Marvel characters have also made a deal with Mephisto earlier. Perhaps many supervillains and some superheroes, too. However, the series did not explore any of that.

Mephisto did, however, end up making a deal with Riri Williams in the final minutes of the show. He resurrected her dead best friend, Natalie. But is this going to cost Riri heavily? That is a debate for the upcoming projects of the MCU where Ironheart will appear.

For now, all the episodes of Ironheart are available for streaming on Disney+.
