The absence of a credits scene follows Blumhouse’s decision to keep the focus on the movie’s main story without extending narrative threads in that format. Despite speculation about future installments, the film ends without additional footage or setup during or after the credits.
Series producer and star Allison Williams has expressed interest in continuing the franchise. In a previous interview, she said, “We love to dream; that’s why we’re all in this business. We have big aspirations of big dreams, and I certainly don’t feel like I’m done making these movies with these people and this tonal landscape and the subject matter. So, yeah, I have been dreaming of a third, for sure,” (via The Hollywood Reporter.) However, any hints at a third film remain within the story’s conclusion and not through post-credit content.
The original M3GAN released in 2022 earned $180 million globally on a $12 million budget. That success helped greenlight M3GAN 2.0, but the sequel faces heavy box office competition. It debuts opposite F1: The Movie from director Joseph Kosinski and during the second weekend of 28 Years Later. It also precedes Jurassic World Rebirth and comes ahead of Superman and The Fantastic Four: First Steps in July.
