Blade Movie Cast: Who Has Left? Mahershala Ali Still Attached?

Wondering which cast members left the Blade movie? This project was first announced at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019, with an original release date of November 3, 2023, attached to it. Since then, the project has encountered numerous obstacles in its production and development. This has led to a postponement of the release date, with actors and directors departing, and significant changes and rewrites to the scripts. With uncertainty looming over the movie’s future, several key actors have already bid farewell to the project.

Here are all the details.

Who has left Marvel’s Blade movie cast?

Aaron Pierre and Delroy Lindo have left Marvel’s Blade project. Additionally, Mia Goth, who was reportedly set to play the villain Lillith, is also now committed to a Star Wars project, which may further delay the MCU project. However, Goth is still attached to Blade.

In 2022, Pierre was announced to be a part of Blade when Bassam Tariq was in the director’s chair. His role remained undisclosed. In 2024, he revealed that as the “project evolved,” he had decided to part ways.

On the other hand, Delroy was also onboarded when the movie was in its early development stage. He then confirmed his departure to Entertainment Weekly. He said, When Marvel came to me, they seemed to be really interested in my input,” Lindo recalls. “And in the various conversations I had with producers, the writer, the director at the time, it was all leading into being very inclusive. It was really exciting conceptually, but it was also exciting in terms of the character that was going to form. And then, for whatever reason, it just went off the rails.”

Is Mahershala Ali still attached to Marvel’s Blade movie?

Yes, Mahershala Ali and Mia Goth are the only actors currently attached to Marvel’s Blade.

After losing Tariq, Marvel Studios has tapped Yann Demange (Lovecraft Country) to serve as the director. Eric Pearson is onboarded to write the screenplays. The original release date in 2023 was later pushed to 2025. As the project still continues to face obstacles in development, it has been removed from the current year’s release schedule.
