Mahershala Ali‘s solo Blade film doesn’t appear to be in the works as yet, but a new rumor is sure to satisfy fans eager to see him portray the iconic character. It suggests a larger role for him in a widely rumored ensemble film exploring the MCU’s supernatural corner.
Blade rumored to have a huge role in Midnight Sons
Blade will reportedly play a major role in the rumored Midnight Sons movie, according to a new rumor. This comes from noted industry insider Daniel RPK. He shared on his Patreon, “Blade will appear and have a big role in a Midnight Sons film is the plan I hear.”
Needless to say, this is nothing more than a rumor as of writing. Marvel has yet to officially confirm when fans will see Mahershala Ali’s MCU debut as Blade. Notably, the character earlier made an uncredited vocal cameo in the post-credits scene of Eternals. When Dane Whitman, played by Kit Harington, tries to touch the Ebony Blade with hopes of wielding it, Blade asks him if he is ready for it.
While Ali’s iteration of the Daywalker hasn’t made his proper MCU debut yet, alternate versions of the character have appeared on film and television in recent times. Todd Williams played a hybrid version of Blade and Moon Knight, a.k.a. Blade Knight, in the Disney+ series, Marvel Zombies. Meanwhile, Wesley Snipes reprised his role from New Line Cinema’s trilogy in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine.
A Midnight Sons movie hasn’t been officially confirmed. However, Oscar Isaac, who essays Moon Knight, revealed in an appearance on Happy, Sad, Confused that discussions about it have been taking place.
Moreover, Marvel has been subtly teasing its eventual formation by introducing key members of the group in several MCU projects. The aforementioned Moon Knight headlined his own show, while Doctor Strange starred in two solo films and played a big role in the Avengers films and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Meanwhile, Werewolf by Night was introduced in the eponymous Disney+ special presentation. Directed by Michael Giacchino, it also featured Man-Thing and Elsa Bloodstone.
