The new trailer for Ironheart has revealed Riri Williams’ advanced AI, Natalie, stylized as N.A.T.A.L.I.E. This AI seems to function a lot like some of the earlier AIs seen in the MCU, like JARVIS and Friday. But there seems to be a heartfelt story behind this one, and the series aims to explore it.
Who is Riri Williams’ new AI, NATALIE, in Ironheart?
With weeks to go before the release of Ironheart, Marvel has dropped a new trailer that gives a glimpse at Riri Williams’ character, her usage of the advanced armor, and her new AI, N.A.T.A.L.I.E.. Unlike the comics, where Riri first used an AI of Tony Stark, the series will take viewers straight to Natalie.
Interestingly, N.A.T.A.L.I.E. takes the form of Riri’s childhood friend and is possibly named after her as well. Natalie Washington was a neighbor of Riri Williams when they first met at the age of 10. When they were 13, Natalie joined Riri and her family for a picnic. Unfortunately, they were caught in the line of fire when a driver opened fire on some bystanders, and Natalie was hit. She passed away on the spot.
This AI is perhaps also a way to honor Natalie Washington, who had a long-lasting impression on Riri Williams. The exact powers of the AI or its usage are still unknown, but as Ironheart proceeds, fans will find out more about that.
Who plays NATALIE in the Ironheart series?
In the upcoming Ironheart series, Lyric Ross will play the role of Natalie. The young actress is best known for her role as Deja Pearson in the NBC drama series This Is Us. Her other works include Wendell & Wild (2022), Canal Street (2018), and Chicago Fire (2015).
