So, who is Marvel’s Ketema, T’Challa’s white son and the new white Black Panther? Here’s everything we know about him.
Who is Ketema, Marvel’s new Black Panther and T’Challa’s white son?
Ketema is the white son of T’Challa’s Black Panther and one of his early love interests, Monica Lynne.
Ketema debuts in Marvel Knights: The World to Come Issue #1, created by Joe Quesada, Christopher Priest, Richard Isanove, Richard Starkings, and Comiccraft’s Tyler Smith. He grows up resenting his father and eventually confronts him. T’Challa and Ketema then partake in a tribal duel to determine who will become Wakanda‘s king.
T’Challa gains the upper hand in the duel and insists that Ketema yield. However, Ketema refuses to stand down and continues their fight.
During their fight, viewers are also treated to flashbacks of T’Challa’s marriages to Storm and Monica Lynne and his conversation with his mother Ramonda about having an heir.
T’Challa once again gains the upper hand and defeats Ketema, insisting the challenge is finished. However, Cleric “M” declares it isn’t, saying he is “no king” as long as his challenger “still breathes.”
Cleric M then asks Ketema if he yields, and he replies that he does not. Ketema then claims that T’Challa saved him to shame him and resumes their fight, and T’Challa tries to stop Ketema by reminding him that he is his son.
Ketema then fully reveals his resentment towards T’Challa, claiming that he used him as a pawn in his war with the Clerics. Ketema then hits T’Challa in the face with a weapon.
After recovering, a weakened T’Challa resumes their fight, saying how Ketema was dishonoring his father. Ketema retorts that T’Challa was an unworthy father and a liar who used him. T’Challa tries to tell Ketema that the clerics had manipulated him with lies. However, Ketema notes that he was “reborn in moral formation” and “endowed with truth…the righteousness of kings.”
Ketema then defeats T’Challa and declares that Wakanda now belongs to him.
