Black Panther’s Wakanda Series Gets First Look, James Bond-Like Spies Teased

Co-produced by Ryan Coogler, the series was announced in December 2023 and will arrive on Disney+ on August 6 this year. Harris also revealed that the animated series, which will be comprised of four parts, shares resemblances to a James Bond-style spy-espionage story.

First look at Black Panther’s Eyes of Wakanda series revealed

The showrunner of Eyes of Wakanda, Todd Harris, recently had a chat with EW and shared the first look at the Black Panther animated series.

The images that were released share a glimpse of the warriors that are set to appear in the series. Although Harris mentioned that the team behind the series “try to mirror the actual spirit of the nation of Wakanda by keeping as many secrets as possible”, the photos appear to have also teased the Hatut Zeraze, aka the Dogs of War, who are Wakandan secret police on a mission to recover Vibranium. This unit is also said to be a CIA-style division of Wakanda.

While talking about them, he stated, “When an inciting incident releases some of these things into the wild, they’ve got to, in a very hush-hush kind of way, make sure that these things don’t turn into a bigger problem. We saw what happened when one disc got into the hands of one Super Soldier — it changed the course of the world.”

Harris further added that Eye of Wakanda is set in the Western Bronze Age. He added, “I really liked the idea of everyone’s view of history. The story starts off during the end of the Western Bronze Age, and that spark sets off this giant spy-espionage story that reverberates through time…. You get Wakanda-grade James Bond, and sometimes a Jane Bond, with the backdrop of all the awesomeness that is Wakanda.”
