Apple TV’s science-fiction comedy Murderbot Episode 3 ending hinted at who killed the members of the DeltFall team and their SecUnits. After not getting any response from the surveyor team, the PreservationAux unit decided to travel to the other end of the planet to investigate what happened to DeltFall.
The titular hero of the story, Murderbot, enters their ship only to find out the security units are lying on the ground, “deactivated.” On the initial inspection, Murderbot’s sensors alerted, “87% threat assessment.”
The protagonist assumed that one of the SecUnits had gone “rogue” and killed the other two. But the episode’s final moments unveiled something far more sinister lurking beneath the surface.

Here’s who killed DeltFall and SecUnits in Murderbot Episode 3’s ending
In the third episode of Apple TV’s Murderbot, the protagonist goes to investigate who killed the DeltFall’s SecUnits. Upon his arrival, he finds the first SecUnit as “deactivated.” Murderbot’s sensors suggested, “No signs of life.”
However, upon further observation, Alexander Skarsgård‘s character decided that the crime scene was “too clean.” One of the DeltFall’s SecUnit bots had died while trying to protect the communication hub, while the other two lost their lives at the exact same time trying to fight each other.
The ending of Murderbot Episode 3 sees the protagonist fighting with one of the wounded DeltFall’s SecUnits, whose sensor said, “Combat override module detected.” He quickly realizes somebody had taken control of the DeltFall’s security construct bots, which caused the massacre. In the final moment, an anonymous SecUnit enters the scene and attacks Murderbot.
As per the original storyline of the source books, The Murderbot Diaries and All Systems Red, DeltFall’s sec units were killed by the corporation, GrayCris. The corporation has been illegally mining alien remnants. When DeltFall comes to know about the activities of GrayCris, they send a bot to kill the surveyor team.
Later, the PreservationAux unit, aka Murderbot’s own team, also faces attacks from GrayCris. The corporation wants to keep the knowledge of alien remnants a secret, as they are profiting from the planet’s resources illegally.
Meanwhile, the PreservationAux unit and its special construct, Murderbot, become threats for the corporation after learning some of its hidden secrets. In the book, the corporation later sends people to “negotiate” with Murderbot and PreservationAux’s members.
