Gundam GQuuuuuuX: Are Char and Challia Bull in a Relationship?

Obviously, the two’s connection goes past the professional, with Bull still searching for Char six years after his disappearance. Are Challia Bull and Char lovers in Gundam GQuuuuuuX?

Char has been shipped with various Gundam characters since the franchise debuted in 1979. In fact, his pairing with Amuro is one of the most popular ships in anime history. However, there’s no official indicator that Char or Challia Bull are gay in either the official or alternate GQuuuuuuX universes.

Char and Challia Bull’s relationship is one of mutual respect and friendship. Bull agrees with Char’s vision for humanity’s future and sides with him in his plan to eliminate the Zabi family and take control of Zeon. Both Char and Bull are Newtypes, which further cemented their bond and led to a deep trust between the two men.

When Char disappeared after the Zeknova occurred at Solomon, Bull was left without his best friend and a purpose. Ultimately, the Zabis retained control of Zeon, and Char’s plans for the future remained unrealized. So, out of loyalty to his friend, Bull continues to chase sightings of the Red Gundam in the hope of one day finding Char.

Despite their close relationship, there’s no indicator that Char or Challia Bull are gay. In the prime UC universe, Char only had relationships with women and was shown to retain feelings for Lalah Sune long after her death. There may be some LGBTQ characters in Gundam GQuuuuuuX, but it’s doubtful that Char and Bull are anything other than straight. However, we’ll have to wait until the series concludes to see for sure.
