McFarlane Toys Brings Forth Gotham Knights Game-Inspired Action Figures

When Batman’s away, the Court of Owls will play. That, at least, is how the upcoming Gotham Knights game goes. And it allows players to step up into the roles of Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin, and Red Hood. Players can go solo or team up with a partner, and switch out characters between missions. With toys, of course, the video game rules don’t apply and collectors can imagine themselves as any of the heroes. Or all at one time.

Based on this preview image from McFarlane Toys, the four protagonists will see plastic form soon. And in their all-new game costume designs. Nightwing will hold his trademark stick weapons, but don’t expect Red Hood to pack any heat. Thanks to recent DC policy regarding toys and guns, the most lethal weapon McFarlane Toys can give Jason Todd is a crowbar.

In addition to the Court of Owls and their Talons, villains in the game include Mr. Freeze and the Penguin. Both of those seem overdue for McFarlane figures in any form, so we’ll have to see if they come next. One figure who feels unlikely in this particular line, however, is Batman himself. According to the storyline, he’s dead. Or is he? (Probably not. But if there’s a big reveal, don’t expect toys to spoil it.)

When McFarlane reveals an image like this, it usually means preorders show up in about a week. The game’s release date at present is unset, but expected in 2022.
