Note From the Editor: This week, Superhero Hype is welcoming back our special guest cosplay correspondent: AGflower. She previously shared her take on Black Cat from the video game, Marvel’s Spider-Man. This time, she’s taking on Savage Land Rogue from Chris Claremont and artist Jim Lee’s Uncanny X-Men #269. Although Rogue only wore this outfit for two issues over 30 years ago, it’s become one of her iconic costumes. It’s also a very popular costume among cosplayers. However, very few cosplayers get all of the details right.
I really like Rogue. She is a very outwardly strong woman, but in her soul, she is very vulnerable. Her abilities are her strength, and at the same time, also her pain. I really appreciate characters who struggle with their inner tragedy and experiences.

I’ve made my favorite Rogue costumes, classic and Savage Land. I also like Rogue’s look in X-Men Evolution. Perhaps someday, I will make that costume too.

Superhero Hype Cosplay: Savage Land Rogue #1
I first saw Rogue in the original X-Men animated series. After that I began to read the comics, and of course, Rogue became my favorite female character from the X-Men.

Superhero Hype Cosplay: Savage Land Rogue #2
I read the Uncanny X-Men’s Savage Land story when I was a teenager, and I hadn't done cosplay yet.

Back then, I could not even think that someday I would make this costume and look like my favorite version of Rogue.

In 2017, my friends wanted to make a cosplay group for the female characters from X-Men. I really liked the idea, and we assembled our own team of X-Girls!

Superhero Hype Cosplay: Savage Land Rogue #5
I immediately chose Rogue, of course, and we made the classic costumes. Rogue's classic suit is very cool. I love the combination of yellow and green colors in the suit, and I love her leather jacket. I was very happy with this project, and I didn't want to part with Rogue.

Superhero Hype Cosplay: Savage Land Rogue #6
I suggested to my friends that we should make a cosplay based on the Savage Land story, but they did not support this idea. So I made Rogue myself.

Superhero Hype Cosplay: Savage Land Rogue #7
This costume is very simple, and many pages of the comic do not include details that are on other pages.
I wanted to add as much detail as possible to make the costume look more interesting. I also used airbrush blackout to give the fabric a shabby look.

I really love fluffy hairstyles. I have very lush hair in real life. And I wanted to make Rogue's wig as lush as possible, because amazing hair is her thing. I made this wig from two wigs.

The comics always have very cool locations. And I dreamed of doing an atmospheric photoshoot in nature, and not in a photo studio. This waterfall is one of my favorite places, and we often go there.

Superhero Hype Cosplay: Savage Land Rogue #10
I immediately decided to shoot Rogue at this particular waterfall, because it looks really cool. We drove all night to shoot early in the morning while all of the tourists were asleep.
This is a popular place, and there are always a lot of people. So we had to stay awake all night to arrive at the waterfall at 5 am.

My cat is used to seeing people in unusual costumes. She is kind and calm. This photo was taken for International Cat Day.
