Superhero Hype Cosplay: Black Cat From Marvel’s Spider-Man
Note From the Editor: This week, Superhero Hype has a special guest cosplay correspondent: AGflower, a very talented cosplayer from Russia. She’s also a big fan of Felicia Hardy a.k.a. the Black Cat. That’s why she’s sharing this extended look at her recreation of Felicia’s costume from Marvel’s Spider-Man. Sony and Insomniac’s incredible Spider-Man PS4 video game formally introduced the Gamerverse’s take on Black Cat in Spider-Man: The City that Never Sleeps DLC. It’s one of the most unique Black Cat costumes to date, and it lends itself well to live-action.
I really love the Black Cat.
I first saw her in the 1994 Spider-Man animated series. But I also appreciate the first appearance of Black Cat in The Amazing Spider-Man #194, because that's how it all started. I’ve made several versions of Felicia's costume from the cartoon series and from the comics, but they are not very different from each other. I've been waiting a long time for the Black Cat to appear in a live-action film, but so far to no avail. Then in 2018, the terrific Spider-Man video game came out. And the DLС featured Black Cat! I really like Felicia in the game. She is so playful, cocky, and free. All of her dialogue with Peter is very interesting, with humor and flirtation. I was so delighted. And her costume was stunning! There are so many details, including her armor, and glasses! This costume was very different from the standard Black Cat outfits from the comics. I fell in love with it from the first trailer and decided to definitely make it. I made this costume and wig myself in about two months. The catsuit is sewn from 4 types of fabric, because in the game these pieces differ in texture. It was an interesting mosaic. Unfortunately, not all of these photos show that the suit consists of small pieces. But it looks cool up close, and I'm very proud of my catsuit. The armor and glasses are made from eva foam. I like that they added armor to her costume, it looks very epic. I also really like that her hair is tied up in a ponytail, which is very original and stylish for this character. I glued each lock of hair, and tried to make a lush ponytail on the wig. I really wanted to do a photoshoot with Black Cat on a red bike, because red is associated with Spider-Man. Yes, this is not New York at night, but I tried to find beautiful buildings for photos in my hometown. And I also had a cute plush kitty that was the same as in the Spider-Man video game. ^__^ Puuuurfect meow.
