When asked by The Direct about reprising the character, Sophie Turner said, “Show me the money (laughs). I don’t know, I think it would be hard but also amazing to come back to it.” She added, “Maybe it would be an utter joy, or maybe it would be trying to cling on to something that was magic back in the day that can’t be recreated. I would have to see a script.”
Turner acknowledged her satisfaction with Sansa’s ending, stating, “I feel that I was very happy with the way Sansa ended her story in Game of Thrones, and no one else was really happy with their ending. I feel like I got a good one, and so I don’t know if I could revisit it.”
In a 2019 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Turner expressed a firm stance on closing the chapter, saying, “It’s time for me to say goodbye… I’m pretty sure I’d say no.” She emphasized Sansa’s growth and concluded, “She’s at her peak right now. I’m sure if she carried on and did a spinoff show, it would just be downhill from there.” Turner also reflected on Sansa’s resilience, noting, “I’ve never felt more empowered as a character than I have with Sansa.”
George R. R. Martin confirmed that while most of the five or six Game of Thrones spin-offs are prequels, “there are some sequels,” per Collider. HBO’s current slate includes House of the Dragon and Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The network also has other animated and live-action projects in development. HBO shelved the planned sequel focused on Jon Snow, though its leadership stated, “Maybe we’ll try again.”
HBO has not confirmed any official sequel featuring Sansa.
