The Absolute Batman comic universe has lost its Robin. But it’s not what most fans would think of. The latest issue of the highly popular DC Comics series reveals a shocking death.
Absolute Batman #23 is now out and features Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta‘s bold new take on the iconic A Death In The Family storyline.
Absolute Batman #23 features the death of Tim Drake‘s Robin in the most shocking way possible. Tim and Jason Todd‘s Robin come across Clayface, who knocks out Jason and takes Batman’s form. The villain then kills Tim before escaping with Scarecrow.
The issue ends with Todd’s Robin vowing to avenge Drake’s death as Batman flees while shouting he was framed.
What does Absolute Batman’s Robin death mean for the future of the series?
In the previous DC comic book storylines, it was always either Jason Todd or Dick Grayson‘s Robin who mostly got killed. Some instances of deaths also included Stephanie Brown.
Tim Drake’s Robin used to survive a lot and was shown to be the one who later took on Bruce Wayne’s mantle in alternate futures. His death has come as a shocker inside the Absolute Universe. While he wasn’t seen much in the new storyline, Tim was depicted as the most intellectual and reasonable member of the team.
His death, however, echoes the Absolute Universe’s inevitable dark theme. This means things may be worse moving forward, and fans can expect more absurd and unimaginable takes on what they already know from the past comic runs.
