Popular Justice League Member Moves to Batman’s Gotham City

The heroes of DC Comics are synonymous with their cities. Superman is connected to Metropolis and Batman the embodiment of Gotham City. Despite this, one popular member of the Justice League will be moving from their hometown to set up shop in Gotham City.

The move was announced as part of a DC press release regarding the second stage of the DC All-In initiative. Big changes are in store for the Batman family of comics, including Poison Ivy becoming the new mayor of Gotham City. However, it appears that one of the Dark Knight’s Justice League allies will be joining him in protecting Gotham… whether Batman likes it or not.

What DC hero is moving to Gotham City?

The popular hero moving to Gotham City is Green Arrow. Fresh off his solo series’ cancellation, the Emerald Archer is moving in with his girlfriend, Gotham native Black Canary. This change will begin in Detective Comics #1107 by Tom Taylor and Pete Woods.

This first issue will kickoff a new storyline teaming Batman with Oliver Queen and Dinah Lance. The three heroes will join forces to unravel a conspiracy tied to their shared past. It is unclear just what this might entail. However, the news that Tom Taylor is writing Green Arrow and Black Canary again is welcome news to many.

Most fans of the Battling Bowman and his Pretty Bird believe Taylor’s handling of the couple in Injustice and DCeased were among the best aspects of those books. There has been a fan movement to have Taylor write them in the main universe for some time. However, it remains to be seen if the equally willful Batman and Green Arrow can work together on shared territory. It will also be interesting to see how the modern-day Robin Hood handles a city run by actual supervillains.
