It is not unusual in superhero comics for a team to change their roster after a big event. Such is the case with the Teen Titans following DC K.O. according to a recent announcement by DC Comics. However, the New Titans team will include a particularly infamous villain.

The announcement of the new Titans group came as part of a DC press release regarding the DC All-In initiative. The press release confirmed the current monthly Titans comic will be retitled New Titans starting with Issue #33 in March. New Titans’ creative team will consist of writer Tate Brombal and artist Sami Basri. The new team will also have a new roster, which is further teased by the main cover by Taurin Clarke.
The cover shows the Titans Tower base, along with Nightwing, Raven, Beast Boy, Starfire, Cyborg, and Donna Troy. There are also four shadowy figures, distinguished only by some slight detailing. These offer hints as to who the newest Titans might be.

Based on the hair-cut and S-shield, the first figure appears to be the Conner Kent Superboy. The female figure beside him, with a lasso on her hip, seems to be the Cassandra Sandsmark Wonder Girl. The cloaked figure with a staff and a purple Bat emblem on her chest appears to be current Batgirl and former Spoiler Stephanie Brown. That leaves just one figure, standing on a flying rock, who may be the most easily recognized by Teen Titans fans.
What Teen Titans enemy is joining the team?
The final figure appears to be the villain and former Teen Titans member Terra. First appearing in 1982’s New Teen Titans #26, Terra was a secretly a mole working for Deathstroke. She apparently died in the climax of The Judas Contract storyline in 1984, accidentally killing herself while trying to collapse a HIVE base on the heroes.

A retcon in the 2016 Deathstroke series revealed that Slade Wilson helped Terra fake her death. She returned recently as part of the new Crime Syndicate and was quickly captured. However, Raven released Terra from suspended animation in Titans #29 to help the team fight the forces of Darkseid. It seems Terra will continue to aid her former friends in the Teen Titans. Whether it is as a forced conscript or as an earnest effort at redemption remains to be seen.
