Deadpool Plays With the Micronauts, Becomes a Vampire on Issue #1 Variant Covers

Marvel Comics has revealed all of the covers that will adorn the debut issue of Cody Ziglar and Rogê Antônio‘s new Deadpool series.

Deadpool #1 hits comic shops in early April as the start of a new ongoing series. The issue features main cover art by Taurin Clarke. In addition to Clarke’s main cover, Marvel previously revealed artist InHyuk Lee’s Foil Variant Cover. The publisher has now shared even more variants from the likes of Jan Bazaldua, Sean Galloway, Javier Garrón, Ryan Stegman, Miguel Mercado, Pete Woods, and Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld. (Garrón’s cover is part of Marvel’s Vampire Variant Cover series, while Woods’ is part of the Micronauts Variant Cover Series.) A blank sketch variant rounds out the cover lineup.

What to expect from Marvel’s Deadpool relaunch

An official synopsis for April’s Deadpool #1 reads as follows: “As he confronts a brand-new archenemy named Death Grip — who may very well live up to his name — Wade will also reunite with his daughter Ellie. It’s the father/daughter duo the Marvel Universe isn’t ready for … and if Death Grip has his way, it’ll only lead to heartbreak!”

“Wade’s been one of my favorite characters since I first got into super hero comics, so being asked to helm a Deadpool series was a dream come true,” Ziglar said. “I look forward to diving into and exploring Wade’s family (found or otherwise), his unique approach to being a (mostly) unkillable mercenary, as well see what kinda of whackos they bring into his orbit.”

Of course, Ziglar and Antônio’s new ongoing series isn’t the only thing Marvel has in store for Deadpool going forward. The publisher also recently announced Joe Kelly and Adam Kubert’s Deadpool & Wolverine: WWIII — a three-issue limited series launching in May. Both comics arrive just a few months before the theatrical release of Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine in July.

Deadpool #1 goes on sale Wednesday, April 3 from Marvel Comics.
