On a good day, Logan can begrudgingly tolerate Wade Wilson. Unfortunately, good days are rare for them both. Despite this, the Deadpool & Wolverine team-ups endure because as annoying as Logan finds the “Merc with a Mouth,” he still trusts him in a fight. However, Wolverines and Deadpools #2 reveals that Logan also respects Wade for one simple reason.

Written by Cody Ziglar with art by Rogê Antônio, Wolverines and Deadpools teams Logan and Wade with their respective daughters. Laura Kinney and Ellie Camacho both inherited their father’s powers and took up their mantles when they were dead. This leads to one heck of a daddy-daughter day as the four heroes join forces to investigate the trafficking of Mutant children.

The trail leads them to the nation of Symkaria and a village under siege by the Shadow King. In agreeing to help the villagers, Deadpool & Wolverine decide to trade partners. This leaves Logan and Ellie teaching the villagers how to fight, as Wade and Laura set up a defensive perimeter. In the middle of the combat lessons, Logan expresses admiration for Ellie’s skills. Moreover, he reveals the surprising reason why he doesn’t dismiss Wade Wilson as a total screw-up.
Why does Wolverine respect Deadpool?
Logan tells Ellie that as annoying as Deadpool can be, he has a good side he tries to hide. Moreover, Wolverine observes that Wade takes his responsibilities as a father seriously, even if he makes a joke out of everything else. That is something Logan can respect, given his own failings as a father.

Said failings, it should be noted, are with his biological children, including Laura Kinney. Wolverine has been a foster father to various X-Men over the years, from Kitty Pryde to Jubilee and Armor. Given that, his assessment that Wade is doing a good job teaching Ellie to be a better Deadpool than him carries weight.
