Star Wars Trailer Announces New Mandalorian Spin-off Show, But Not What Fans Wanted

A new Star Wars Mandalorian spin-off show is coming but it’s definitely not what most fans were waiting for. The upcoming project will dive deeper into the adventures of Din Djarin and Grogu.

Lucasfilm has announced the official Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu Podcast. The show will present a behind-the-scenes look at the making of 2026’s Mandalorian and Grogu movie which was released in May. It will premiere with two episodes, titled Growing Up and Bigger & Different. The guests include director/co-writer/producer Jon Favreau, Lucasfilm President and CCO Dave Filoni, and Academy Award-winning composer Ludwig Göransson.

They will be joined by the leading stars of the movie, Pedro Pascal, who plays the Mandalorian, Sigourney Weaver, and even Grogu himself. According to the official description, the show will highlight the “ingredients that made this film so special, as both a fresh chapter in Star Wars’ remarkable history and an exciting new page in the Mandalorian and Grogu’s own stories.”

The podcast has been revealed as part of the Mandalorian and Grogu movie’s upcoming debut on Disney+.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu is also coming to Disney+

Besides the Mandalorian and Grogu movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu Podcast will also release on the Disney+ platform on September 2, 2026.

Additionally, the podcast will be available in audio-only episodes on other platforms, including Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Pandora, Amazon Music, SiriusXM, iHeart Radio, and TuneIn.

Speaking of the Mandalorian and Grogu movie, it was originally released in theaters on May 22, 2026. It failed to impress most of the critics but managed to win over the audience members. Currently, it holds an average Tomatometer score of 60% and Popcornmeter score of 86% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film also couldn’t create a huge impact at the box office, earning just over $340 million worldwide on a $165 million budget.

However, it witnessed a great reception upon its digital debut last month. It opened at the number one position on Fandango’s premium video-on-demand chart for the week from July 20 to July 26, 2026.
