Luke Cage, Captain America and More Star on Marvel’s Black History Month 2024 Covers

Marvel Comics has announced a new collection of variant covers commemorating Black History Month 2024.

No fewer than six Black History Month Variant Covers will adorn Marvel‘s various titles throughout February 2024. At this time, the publisher has revealed four of these covers. Things kick off on Wednesday, February 7 with Mateus Manhanini’s variant cover for Captain America #6 and Ernanda Souza’s variant for Fantastic Four #17 — which star Sam Wilson and Luke Cage, respectively.

Black Panther #9 follows suit on February 14, featuring a Black History Month variant by Dotun Akande. Akande’s cover depicts Black Panther’s theoretical sidekick, whom the aforementioned Souza designed for the New Champions variant cover series earlier this year. Finally, Rocket Racer takes off on Karen Darboe’s variant for Amazing Spider-Man #44, on sale February 28.

Marvel has also confirmed that Miles Morales: Spider-Man #16 and Night Thrasher #1 — both on sale February 14 — will feature Black History Month variants by Taurin Clarke and Davi Go, respectively. The publisher will reveal those covers at a later date.

Marvel celebrates Black History Month

Of course, Marvel’s Black History Month 2024 celebration goes beyond the newly-revealed variant covers. Earlier this year, the publisher announced Marvel’s Voices: Legends #1 — a new anthology one-shot starring characters like Patriot, Misty Knight, and Deathlok. The book goes on sale Wednesday, January 31.
