Robert Downey Jr. has seemingly teased a major clue regarding Chris Evans’ return in Avengers: Doomsday. Directed by the Russo brothers, the upcoming Avengers film stars Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom and Evans as Steve Rogers.
In a recent interview with Good Morning America at the D23 event, Downey Jr.discussed his experience working with Evans and teased a possible connection between their characters. He said, “I’ll say this, getting to know you better, all of our history, because, you know, he’s … You’re a legit dude, and you don’t say yes just ’cause you can. It has to feel right. And I think that in Doomsday, what, what happens with our, this key relationship is so exciting and unexpected and beautiful.”
Downey Jr.’s mention of a “key relationship” has sparked speculation about the nature of Doctor Doom and Steve Rogers’ connection in Avengers: Doomsday. Evans was also asked about his feelings on returning to the franchise, to which he replied, “Incredible. Yeah. I mean, in a way, it kind of feels like we never left. You know what I mean? I mean, it feels like a lifetime ago, but also like it was yesterday.”
