Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday trailer has sparked a dark theory regarding Loki’s fate. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the upcoming MCU film is set for a worldwide theatrical release on December 18, 2026. The film will feature the Avengers and other MCU figures fighting against Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.
While the trailer does not confirm Loki’s death, fans are connecting Thor’s furious reaction to Dr. Doom to the rumors, with many speculating that Doom would kill Loki. @SatikVFX_ shared his blunt thoughts, writing, “Loki will die in this movie again; Doom will literally rip his heart out.” Another fan, @phyrefoxx, highlighted Thor’s long history of tragedy in the MCU, writing, “First an eye, then his arm??? Watched his brother die. Dad died. Had to kill his entire home world to kill his sister. Jane died in his arms. Thor might actually have the heaviest arc of all time lol.”
@ling_lord shared his theory regarding Loki and wrote, “So, it seems inevitable that Doom will steal Loki’s power in #AvengersDoomsday. But hear me out: imagine at the end of the film, we see Mobius take care of Loki, who’s weakened but recovering, and Loki says to Mobius, “Doom won’t run rampant forever. I have a plan.” ?
@oluwaseun7g expanded on the theory, suggesting that Steve Rogers tells Thor that Loki is alive, but Thor later finds him dead with his heart ripped out and a piece of Doom’s armor nearby, leading him to confront Doom. He also mentioned that, “What Thor doesn’t realize is that Doom didn’t just kill Loki, he absorbed the God of Stories’ power. Thor wasn’t just fighting Doom; he was fighting the power of the entire multiverse.”
