With just months to go until Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters, Robert Downey Jr. has revealed his preference between playing Iron Man and Doctor Doom. RDJ has donned the role of Iron Man for more than a decade, and now he has put on the cape of Doctor Doom.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released on December 18, 2026. Recently, at the Disney fan Event D23, Robert Downey Jr. surprised fans by taking the stage. He was also joined by Hayley Atwell, who plays Peggy Carter in the MCU, and Chris Evans, aka Steve Rogers.
At the event, Good Morning America engaged in a candid conversation with the actors. During their conversation, the host asked RDJ about his preference between Tony Stark and Doctor Doom. The 61-year-old chose the villain character for the time being.
Reflecting on his choice, he said, “It was really weird being the guy — everyone else is hanging out, they’re the good heroes, and I’m [in] this mask and this hood. I’m like, ‘They’re all on one side of the camera, and I guess they’re all mad at me or something.’…I will say Doom, for now, because I got to really observe what I’ve been missing the whole time, just everybody else.”
