A new Avengers: Doomsday rumor suggests Tom Hiddleston’s role as Loki could disappoint many fans looking forward to him in the ensemble. Hiddleston will reprise his role as the God of Mischief, now looking over all timelines following the Loki season 2 finale. Several rumors have previously pointed to Loki playing an important role in the upcoming ensemble.
A recent rumor started doing the rounds about Loki having “2 or 3 scenes” in the film. One of those will allegedly see him share the screen with Steve Rogers, and the other suggests he will die in the Negative Zone. Insider MyTimetoShine now suggests the rumor is true, except for the involvement of the Negative Zone. The third scene of Loki is, as rumored, him being either alive in a post-credits scene or returning from Valhalla to participate in the film’s climactic battle.
Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s biggest crossover events
Like most films from the Russo brothers in the MCU, Avengers: Doomsday will be packed with several heroes from different franchises. The film will unite Sam Wilson’s team, the New Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and members of the old Avengers team together. It is also tying in threads from Marvel Studios’ TV shows released after Avengers: Endgame. Other rumors have suggested the film will include cameos from Marvel characters who debuted before the MCU even existed.
Counting his appearance in Avengers: Doomsday, it will be Hiddleston’s ninth time playing the character. The actor first played Loki in 2011’s Thor after losing out on the titular role to Chris Hemsworth. Should Hemsworth’s Thor and Hiddleston’s Loki share the screen again in Doomsday, it will be the first time the characters have done so since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.
Fans will have to wait a little longer to see Loki’s ultimate fate, as Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to be released on December 18, 2026.
