In Episode 7, Principal Dort is revealed to be the mastermind of the Morning Song cult. This is the cult that has been causing problems for Bianca Barclay, the siren queen bee of Nevermore, and Xavier‘s ex-girlfriend, since Season 1.
Dort is later revealed to have joined Nevermore Academy with a motive: to steal Grandmama Hester’s fortune and escape. He later uses Bianca’s mother, Gabrielle, as bait to coerce Bianca into using her siren-song powers to brainwash Grandmama Hester into bequeathing her fortune to Nevermore. However, Wednesday and Agnes discover Dort’s plans, and the former joins forces with Bianca to take him down.
Dort’s crimes are later exposed after Wednesday steals his siren-protection necklace and Bianca uses her powers to force him to confess everything he did to Nevermore Academy’s students, including killing Morning Song’s leader, whom he personally appointed. Following this, Dort takes Bianca hostage, but ends up setting a chandelier on fire in the process. Fortunately for the latter, Ajax jumps in and rescues her by turning Dort into stone using his Gorgon abilities. Dort’s fate is sealed after the chandelier crashes down and crushes him to death.
Wednesday’s co-creator Alfred Gough told Tudum that the creative team had planned for Dort himself to fire in the air and set the chandelier ablaze. “Nobody was intending to kill him,” he added. “Dort did it to himself.”
