First Clip From Red Online

September 07, 2010

Based on the DC Comics graphic novel

Summit Entertainment has revealed the first clip from Red, starring Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren, Karl Urban, Mary-Louise Parker, Brian Cox, Julian McMahon and Richard Dreyfuss. Based on the cult DC Comics graphic novel by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner, the film is an explosive action-comedy directed by Robert Schwentke.

Red, Frank (Willis), Joe (Freeman), Marvin (Malkovich) and Victoria (Mirren) used to be the CIA's top agents – but the secrets they know just made them the Agency's top targets. Now framed for assassination, they must use all of their collective cunning, experience and teamwork to stay one step ahead of their deadly pursuers and stay alive. To stop the operation, the team embarks on an impossible, cross-country mission to break into the top-secret CIA headquarters, where they will uncover one of the biggest conspiracies and cover-ups in government history.

RED looks awesome, I have no doubt Cully Hamner and Warren Ellis's comic will kick ass on the big screen. So far so good. smilies/smiley.gif

although this looks like it only LOOSELY follows even the premise of the book, I will still see it cuz it looks entertaining, and a lot of fun. I'm sure it could help make other Warren Ellis properties into movies.

@ tmick: Not all comics have "superheroes" in them. Seriously!

This is the comics movie for my parents. It's probably just John Malkovic, but I'm getting a "Burn After Reading" vibe from this. Brilliant move by the studios to get guys like John Malkovic and Morgan Freeman...definitely going to help expand the fan base. Still, it looks pretty darn entertaining.

Ugh
There's always some doofus who asks that question, tmick. So don't feel bad, you're not alone.

SHH! does not just cover strictly superheroes. Their focus is on superheroes, of course, but they cover anything that has to do with comic books. This should be blatantly obvious if you just glance over all the headlines.
