#8 THE PUNISHER
Yeah, they talked about it for a long time but it fell through (which I celebrated, did you hear all the changes they wanted to make?). Now I like both the Thomas Jane Punisher film and Punisher: War Zone, but I still feel like both of those films didn't totally get the character - some of his actions in the films are out of character and that's always a bummer to see. While the character is capable of carrying his own films and having stories contained into one movie, who wouldn't want to see a new Punisher story every week on their television?
What the Punisher needs, and what fans want, is the over the top and stylish violence of Punisher: War Zone but centered and smooth stories like in the 2004 film. The Punisher is an ex-marine that murders criminals and that's what we want to see. It seems like an overused premise at this point, but only because so many other shows and films have copied it. Imagine something like "The Sopranos" or "Sons of Anarchy" but half of the episode is about the Punisher planning to kill the people you see in the other half. The Punisher comics are very smart and really engaging, especially when they take a real world approach, which is the best way to position him on television.
