Marvel’s Avengers Score Gets the Vinyl Treatment From Mondo
Over the weekend, Square Enix launched the beta program for Marvel’s Avengers, bringing us one step closer to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ debut on current-gen video game consoles. Of course, no superhero’s adventure is complete without an empowering musical backdrop to give the fight scenes a little more pizzazz. And today, Marvel has revealed that composer Bobby Tahouri is handling the game’s soundtrack. His score is also getting a stylish vinyl pressing courtesy of Mondo.
Gamers might recognize Tahouri from scoring Rise of the Tomb Raider in 2015. However, his resume spans film and TV projects as well. Tahouri has also dabbled in the Marvel Universe before. Back in 2008, he worked in the music department on the first Iron Man movie under composer Ramin Djawadi.
While speaking with Variety, Tahouri explained his approach to crafting the music for Marvel’s Avengers. Apparently, players can look forward to hearing different themes for each of the game’s principal characters.
“What made composing for Marvel’s Avengers so special is that I got to write music for so many unique superheroes, all in one game,” said Tahouri. “After coming up with one Avengers theme, I designed a palette of sounds and instruments specific to each superhero.”
Mondo is pressing Tahouri’s score on a single 180-gram LP, which is housed inside a gatefold sleeve with art designed by Phantom City Creative. Record collectors will have a choice between tri-colored vinyl and standard black vinyl. Both versions retail for $25 and will ship in October. Pre-order your copy here.
Marvel’s Avengers arrives on PS4, Xbox One, Stadia, and PC on September 4. It will also be available for Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X whenever those systems launch later this year.
