Marvel fans in the U.S. can now watch the newest Spider-Man TV show from Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television. This comes two days before the highly anticipated global streaming debut of Spider-Noir starring Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage. This marks the first live-action TV adaptation of the beloved superhero in nearly five decades, after CBS’s short-lived show The Amazing Spider-Man and the Japanese series Supaidāman from the Toei Company.
“The series tells the story of Ben Reilly, a seasoned, down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life, following a deeply personal tragedy, as the city’s one and only superhero,” reads the official logline.
How to watch the new Spider-Man TV show?
As of today, all eight episodes of Spider-Noir are now available to stream in the U.S., exclusively on MGM+. Fans can also choose between two versions of the new Spider-Man TV show to watch, “Authentic Black & White” and “True-Hue Full Color.” Afterward, Spider-Noir will officially be released globally on Prime Video this Wednesday, May 27.
In Spider-Noir, Cage reprises the titular hero in the live-action for the first time since voicing the character in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The show takes place in a standalone universe, different from the animated film franchise. Joining Cage are Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, Abraham Popoola, Jack Huston, Brendan Gleeson, Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Cary Christopher, Michael Kostroff, Scott MacArthur, Joe Massingill, Whitney Rice, Amanda Schull, Andrew Caldwell, Amy Aquino, Andrew Robinson, and Kai Caster.
The series is created and executive-produced by showrunners Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, along with director Harry Bradbeer. Even though it won’t be tied to any Sony or Marvel movies, the team behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was also part of the creative process, including Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal. They are executive producing alongside Cage, Aditya Sood, Dan Shear, and Pavlina Hatoupis. It is a production by Sony Pictures Television.
