HBO confirmed that Season 3 will premiere in June 2026 but has not announced a specific release date. The series stars Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, and Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen.
Season 2 ended with Rhaenyra and Alicent meeting, as Alicent offered the Red Keep in exchange for safe passage for herself, Helaena, and Jaehaera. Daemon pledged his allegiance and army to Rhaenyra, giving Team Black seven dragons and two armies as they advance toward King’s Landing. The show last depicted Rhys Ifans’ Otto Hightower in prison, setting up further developments in the upcoming season.
The series adapts George R.R. Martin’s Fire and Blood and debuted in 2022. Producers have begun work on Season 3, which will continue the civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons, with control of the Iron Throne driving the conflict. HBO plans to conclude the story with Season 4.
