Running for 15 seasons, Supernatural was one of the most successful fantasy/horror series in television history. Fans have hoped the show might see a revival on HBO Max, as a new series or feature-length film. However, while Sam and Dean Winchester are once again hitting the road to fight evil, it is in an entirely different medium.
Warner Bros. Discovery and Dynamite Entertainment are partnering on a new Supernatural comic book. While this is not the first time Sam and Dean have appeared in a comic, their last miniseries was released in 2011. The new comic, which premieres in October, will be set between seasons 1 and 2 of the show.
What creators are behind the Supernatural comic?
Acclaimed author Greg Pak will write the new Supernatural comic. A veteran comic writer, Pak is perhaps most famous for his work on Marvel’s Darth Vader comic series. He is joined by artist Eder Messias, with whom Pak collaborated on the Captain America comic.
“Fans of Supernatural know the show is a blast, and it’s an enormous pleasure and privilege to be able to dig into this wild world, especially with Eder Messias,” Pak shared. “We’re going for fun and grounded, and then we’re going to absolutely cut loose when the time comes. I can’t wait to show more, and thanks so much to everyone for coming along for the ride!”
Messias, who describes Supernatural as “by far my favorite television series,” is equally enthusiastic about the new comic. “Here in Brazil, on Saturday nights, they would show four episodes in a row.” Messias shared. “After that, we would spend the week talking to friends about the next episodes. I’m looking forward to bringing this story to fans and giving it my best!”
