The next big Walking Dead spinoff has added a new actress to it’s ranks…and she’s sharing the screen with a fan-favorite character from the flagship series. According to Deadline, Lauren Glazier will appear on Tales of the Walking Dead in an episode that will also mark the return of Samantha Morton’s Alpha.
Glazier notably had recurring roles on Netflix’s Mindhunter and Apple TV+’s See. On the big screen, she has shown up in Red Sparrow and Gone Girl. Unfortunately, we still don’t know who she’s playing on Tales. But Morton’s return is definitely a welcome surprise. Rumors about her comeback actually made the rounds several months ago. Regardless, it was never actually confirmed until Deadline broke the news about Glazier’s casting.
Morton’s Alpha appeared as the primary antagonist throughout The Walking Dead’s ninth and tenth seasons. In both the comics and TV series, she was the leader of the Whisperers, a group of feral (and particularly violent) survivors who wore zombie masks in order to travel undetected. Alpha was killed by Negan midway through season 10. So presumably, Morton and Glazier’s episode of Tales takes place before she encountered the parent series’ main characters.

Tales of the Walking Dead will air as an anthology series consisting of six episodes. Each installment focuses on a different character (or group of characters) as they travel across what’s left of society and evade armies of the undead. Other previously announced cast members include Olivia Munn, Jessie T. Usher, Embeth Davidtz, Danny Ramirez, Loan Chabanol, Terry Crews, Anthony Edwards, Parker Posey, Poppy Liu and Jillian Bell.
AMC still hasn’t announced a premiere date for Tales of the Walking Dead. However, it’s expected to air its first episode sometime this summer.
