Chloe Bennet Shoots Down Secret Invasion Rumors
Chloe Bennet recently dropped out of The CW’s live-action Powerpuff series, freeing up some room in her schedule to pursue other film and TV projects. Unfortunately, a return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe isn’t on the docket. Via SYFY Wire, Bennet’s Instagram stories addressed the long-standing rumors that she’s coming back to play Daisy Johnson/Quake in Marvel’s Secret Invasion series on Disney+.
Ever since Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ended last year, Marvel fans have been hoping to see some of its characters return in future MCU properties. However, internal divisions between Marvel Studios and Marvel TV kept that from achieving its full potential during the series’ run. And Kevin Feige has played coy about whether the show is still considered canon.
Quake played a major role in Marvel’s original Secret Invasion comic. And the upcoming show would be a good place for her MCU return. However, Bennet insists that she hasn’t joined the show’s cast. And she really wants people to stop asking her about it (especially in public).
“I have avoided saying anything like this in general, on social media or whatever, because I thought maybe it would blow over,” said Bennet. “But it has not. I am in no way attached or involved, even at all or a little bit, in the Secret Invasion Marvel thing. I honestly don’t even know really what that is, I am only coming on here to say this because it has gotten to the point that every day I’m getting hundreds of messages about this.”
“I’m now getting like approached in person,” continued Bennet. “Today it was in the tampon aisle at Target. So I figured I would just clear the air.”
In other words, actors are human beings just like everyone else. And for God’s sake, give these performers some space so they can have their normal moments too.
Disney+ still hasn’t announced a release date for Secret Invasion.
