New Marvel and Star Wars Shows Will Now Hit Disney+ on Wednesdays

Disney+ just changed plans for all its upcoming Marvel and Star Wars series. According to THR, the streaming service will release all its original shows on Wednesday from now on, shifting away from that Friday release schedule. According to the report’s sources, the change will begin in July and will involve only the original series, while the original movies will debut on Fridays as usual. At the same time, it also allows Disney’s streaming platform to exit from Netflix’s shadow since the California-based company has notoriously monopolized Friday as the day for the debut of several flagship shows.

Disney took this decision following Loki‘s debut. At first, the series featuring the God of Mischief was to have debuted on Friday, Jun. 11, before being moved to its current schedule.

According to the report, Loki‘s premiere set the record for the streamer’s most-watched series debut. Interestingly, the choice to move the show to a different day was originally taken so that subscribers wouldn’t be forced to choose between Loki and Star Wars: The Bad Batch. The latest Star Wars series is bringing forward the long-established tradition of Star Wars animated shows, focusing on the story of Clone Force 99.

At the moment, Disney hasn’t revealed any official release dates for the upcoming Marvel or Star Wars series. However, expect news to come soon.

What do you think about Disney’s move? Do you prefer Wednesday or Friday to watch the latest episode of your favorite Star Wars or Marvel series? Let us know in the comments.
