HBO Max Announces Batman: Caped Crusader Animated Series
The Dark Knight is arguably the most popular DC superhero, and he is getting a new animated adaptation soon. In a press release, HBO Max and Cartoon Network announced that they joined forces for a new animated series called Batman: Caped Crusader. The announcement doesn’t go into details about which part of the huge Batman mythology it will take on, but it says that it will feature the return of Bruce Timm as executive producer, the man behind the fan-favorite and critically acclaimed Batman: The Animated Series. Timm will work side by side with J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves for this new project.
“We are beyond excited to be working together to bring this character back, to tell engrossing new stories in Gotham City,” said all the executive producers in a joint statement. “The series will be thrilling, cinematic and evocative of Batman’s noir roots, while diving deeper into the psychology of these iconic characters. We cannot wait to share this new world.”
At the moment, both Abrams and Reeves are involved with other DC projects. Abrams is currently executive producing a television series centered on the Justice League Dark for HBO Max. Reeves is shooting the upcoming reboot of Batman, featuring Robert Pattinson as the titular hero. Warner Bros. has yet to announce an official release date for the animated show focused on Gotham’s caped hero. In the meantime, you can check the freshly released key art for the series here below.
