Amazon’s New Wheel of Time Clip Introduces Rosamund Pike’s Moiraine

So far, 2021 has been pretty good to Rosamund Pike. Her latest film, I Care a Lot, premiered on Netflix in February to glowing reviews, and her performance in the movie netted her a Golden Globe win for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical. Pike’s hot streak will hopefully continue later this year when she stars in The Wheel of Time, based on Robert Jordan’s fantasy novels. Now, Amazon Prime has revealed the first proper look at her character on the series, Moraine Damodred. You can check it out for yourself below.

The clip is only five seconds long and offers only the briefest glimpse of Pike’s character. Regardless, fans of Jordan’s novels will surely be able to pick up on a few details. For example, the “tower” that she mentions in her voiceover almost definitely refers to the White Tower, which serves as the headquarters of Moiraine and her fellow Aes Sedai. This ancient sisterhood plays a vital role in the books, with Moiraine considered a legend among their ranks. Among many other feats, she is strong in her use of the One Power, which she appears to channel in this latest preview.

Rafe Judkins is spearheading The Wheel of Time as showrunner and executive producer. The series originally began shooting in the Czech Republic in late 2019. Unfortunately, the cast and crew were forced to suspend production the following March due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Filming eventually resumed in Prague last summer.

Amazon Prime still hasn’t announced a premiere date for The Wheel of Time.
