James Gunn has teased a Peacemaker character’s return to the DCU in future projects. This teaser was provided by the DC co-chairman as a one-word response. Despite no Season 3 confirmation of Peacemaker, this news comes as a hopeful sign for fans.
On Threads, James Gunn recently posted about Peacemaker. Under this post, a fan named mayor_wren commented, “Just tell me we’re seeing more Adrian [Chase/Vigilante] in something, please.” To which Gunn replied, “Ok.”
Although the director’s response was vague, it comes as positive news to fans across the globe. Especially given that Season 3 has not been confirmed despite the show gaining positive reviews for Seasons 1 and 2.
Vigilante’s journey through Peacemaker’s latest chapter
Vigilante, aka Adrian Chase, is portrayed by Freddie Stroma. He first appeared in Season 1 of Peacemaker. In this season, he stuck by John Cena’s Peacemaker as a hilarious, chaotic, and close ally.
Despite being a self-proclaimed vigilante, he helps the titular anti-hero and other allies using violent methods. The self-proclaimed hero’s loyalty to Peacemaker immediately made him a fan favorite. In Season 1, Vigilante forcefully inserts himself into Project Butterfly. The final battle at the barn causes him grave injuries.
By the end of Peacemaker Season 2, Adrian is separated from Peacemaker, who is left stranded on a prison planet called Salvation.
Vigilante could potentially be next seen on a mission to rescue his teammate. Moreover, he might next be seen in Man of Tomorrow, helmed by Gunn.
Previously, set photos shared by the director led fans to speculate that the background resembled Peacemaker’s Salvation planet at the end of Season 2. Since Gunn confirmed that the prison planet is one of the two major aspects in his DC story, fans can expect to see Peacemaker and, in turn, Vigilante soon.
However, these are only fan theories and speculations made on the internet. Neither Gunn nor DC has confirmed the return of Peacemaker or Vigilante in Man of Tomorrow. The Superman sequel is slated to hit theaters on July 9, 2027.
