Star Wars‘ latest Mandalorian special, featuring Grogu and the iconic bounty hunter Boba Fett, is now streaming on Disney+. The film was released earlier this May and was well-received by both viewers and critics.
Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu have finally arrived on Disney+ and begin streaming Today, September 2, 2026. Jon Favreau directed the film, which was released on May 14, 2026.
The sci-fi film has a solid Rotten Tomatoes score on Tomatometer and Popcornmeter, holding 60% and 86%, respectively. Made against a reported production budget of $165 million, the movie managed to collect nearly $345.7 million worldwide.
The Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures flick is a continuation of Disney+’s The Mandalorian, which ran from 2019 to 2023. Petro Pascal plays Din Djarin/The Mandalorian, whereas other cast members include Jeremy Allen White, Brendan Wayne, Martin Scorsese, Lateef Crowder, Jonny Coyne, and Sigourney Weaver.
How the new Disney+ special retells The Mandalorian’s three-season story
The movie retells the first three seasons of The Mandalorian through a lighthearted, comedic, and brick-built lens. The film is set in the post-Galactic Empire fall era. The New Republic enlists Djarin and Grogu to rescue Rotta the Hutt. And the only thing they could exchange is information on a target.
According to IMDb, the film’s synopsis reads, “Once a lone bounty hunter, Mandalorian Din Djarin and his apprentice Grogu embark on an exciting new Star Wars adventure.”
Favreau also serves as one of the writers alongside Dave Filoni and Noah Kloor. Ludwig Göransson provided the music for the film. Favreau and Filoni also serves as the producers alongside Kathleen Kennedy and Ian Bryce.
Apart from Pascal playing the voice and occasional face of the titular bounty hunter, Weaver and Allen White are cast as Colonel Ward and Rotta the Hutt, respectively.
