James Gunn shared a major update on the production of his highly anticipated Man of Tomorrow. The sequel to 2025’s Superman has reached a major production milestone.
In a recent Threads post, Gunn revealed that the upcoming DCU sequel’s principal photography has wrapped. Gunn commemorated the production milestone with two photos from the shooting location.
Gunn also shared a caption along with the images. It read, “That’s a wrap on principal photography for Man of Tomorrow. Truly a joyful experience and I have immense gratitude to my cast and crew.”
The first showed Lex Luthor actor Nicholas Hoult swimming in a lake at the location following the final day of filming. The second showed members of the production team at what appears to be the same location.

Who stars in James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow?
Man of Tomorrow will see several cast members return from Superman. Fans can expect to see David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, and Nicholas Hoult return as Superman, Lois Lane, and Lex Luthor, respectively. Neva Howell will also reprise her role as Martha Kent. Moreover, Guy Gardner, Mr. Terrific, Jimmy Olsen, and Rick Flag Sr. will also appear in the film.
Characters from other DCU projects, including Supergirl and Lanterns, are also reportedly slated to appear. Milly Alcock will reprise her role as Kara Zor-El, while Arron Pierre, who plays John Stewart, will appear as the Green Lantern. Notably, Xolo Maridueña, who played Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle in Blue Beetle, will reportedly reprise his role in the movie. The character would be one of the few returning elements from the previous DC franchise
Newcomers to the DCU reportedly include Lars Eidinger, who is rumored to play the film’s antagonist, Brainiac. Other newcomers reportedly include Adria Arjona, whose role has yet to be officially confirmed. She has been widely rumored to play the Superman villain Maxima. Andre Royo, Matthew Lillard, and Sinqua Walls have also been cast in undisclosed roles.
Man of Tomorrow is set to release worldwide on July 9, 2027.
