A new Man of Tomorrow set photo hints at a possible plot connection to Peacemaker. Recently, James Gunn revealed that principal photography for the next Superman movie has been completed. However, fans quickly noticed that the background setting looks similar to a location seen in Peacemaker Season 2.
Gunn posted the pictures on Threads, with the caption, “That’s a wrap on principal photography for Man of Tomorrow.” The director also talked about photographs featuring Nicholas Hoult and members of the crew. However, some fans spotted familiar resonance with a Peacemaker Season 2 location.
For instance, @dechewett commented, “Looks an awful lot like Salvation,” while @prodanarchist asked, “Is this Salvation?” Moreover, with the release of these images, theories also started to emerge among fans. For example, @sixsevan05 pointed out the theory, “Lex ends up in Salvation and ends up forming an early version of the Legion of Doom.” A fan also stated an alternate theory after looking at the behind-the-scenes images. @markhbpwm wrote, “This is where the Internet looks at that lake and theorizes that it’s a river of Kryptonite.”

What is Salvation in the DCU and how could it tie into Man of Tomorrow?
At the end of Peacemaker Season 2, Rick Flag Sr. sends John Cena’s character to an alternate dimension called Salvation. This serves as an inescapable, off-world prison planet used by Rick Flag Sr. and A.R.G.U.S. to exile and detain dangerous metahumans.
In an interview with Variety, Gunn revealed that the planet will play an important role in Man of Tomorrow. He said, “I had mapped out what I thought the general story was, and two important aspects to that were Checkmate and especially Salvation.”
Plot details for Man of Tomorrow indicate that the Man of Steel and Lex Luthor will form an uneasy alliance to stop a much greater threat, Brainiac. David Corenswet will reprise his role as Superman while Hoult will again play Lex Luthor. The ensemble also includes Rachel Brosnahan, Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillion, and Edi Gathegi.
The movie is set to release in theaters on July 9, 2027.
