Adria Arjona’s new sci-fi slasher movie is already scoring well on Rotten Tomatoes ahead of its theatrical release. The movie has earned positive reviews from critics so far, while it awaits the audience’s verdict.
A24’s Onslaught holds an 81% score on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer, at the time of this article’s publication. It currently has 15 reviews from critics. The Popcornmeter score is not available yet.
Most critics have praised Onslaught for its thrilling action and striking visuals, agreeing that the movie delivers what it promised.
Angie Han from The Hollywood Reporter wrote, “Gloriously crafted if narratively undercooked, the action-thriller is a pretty good time. It’s just that it had seemed for a moment like it was going to be a great one.”
IGN’s Tom Jorgensen praised director Adam Wingard, saying he “throws a collection of action and B-movie genre influences into a blender, pushes that concoction across the table, and encourages you to chug.”
Meanwhile, The Guardian’s Benjamin Lee called the movie “decently entertaining.” He added, “I appreciated Wingard transferring his sleek studio style, but it just never goes hard enough. After all, we were promised an onslaught.”
However, not all critics were impressed, as Alonso Duralde from The Film Verdict wrote, “Wingard and Barrett are clearly going for gut-bucket grindhouse here, but even by those particular standards, Onslaught arrives as a particularly loathsome bucket of guts.”
What is Adria Arjona’s Onslaught movie about?
Onslaught is a science fiction action film directed by Adam Wingard and written by Simon Barrett. It stars Adria Arjona as Celeste, an army sniper living in a trailer park. When three super soldiers who escaped from a secret military facility threaten to kill her family, Celeste must do all she can to take them down.
Other cast members of Onslaught include Alex Pereira, Dan Stevens, Eric Wareheim, Drew Starkey, Rebecca Hall, and more. The film arrives in theaters on September 4, 2026.
Meanwhile, Arjona also stars in James Gunn’s upcoming DCU movie, Man of Tomorrow, where David Corenswet will reprise his role as Superman.
