Man of Tomorrow Filming Update Reveals Current Status of DCU Superman Movie

James Gunn just dropped a massive update on his DCU Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow. The anticipated sequel will take place after the events of last year’s successful first installment.

Director James Gunn recently shared an image on Threads, revealing that Man of Tomorrow has been in production for over 85 days now. This means it’s been shooting for a good amount of nearly three months.

While Gunn hasn’t confirmed it yet, it’s safe to assume production on the movie might be close to wrapping up soon. But this just a rumor and should be taken with a grain of salt, unless an actual announcement comes from the director himself.

Who is starring in Man of Tomorrow?

Man of Tomorrow will bring back David Corenswet in the titular role of Clark Kent/Superman. The ensemble cast will also see other returning members, like Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.

Both Superman and Lex Luthor will team up for the sequel, as they overcome their differences to face a bigger threat in Brainiac. The supervillain, played by Lars Eidinger, will make his first-ever live-action appearance with Man of Tomorrow. Most of the plot details for the upcoming superhero film are still under wraps.

Rachel Brosnahan will also return as Lois Lane, alongside Milly Alcock as Supergirl in a cameo role. The actress was recently seen as Kara Zor-El in her solo origin DCU movie, which released in June.

Other key cast members include Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Aaron Pierre as John Stewart/Green Lantern, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica/The Engineer, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Adria Arjona as Maxima, and more.

Man of Tomorrow will hit theaters on July 9, 2027.
