A new rumor may have just debunked a recent report about Avengers: Secret Wars’ production status ahead of the film’s 2027 release. A known industry insider now claims that filming has already begun with what they describe as a major sequence.
New rumor suggests Avengers: Secret Wars has begun filming
Avengers: Secret Wars has reportedly started filming, according to known industry scooper MyTimeToShineHello. The insider claimed on X that production has begun with “the most INSANE scene of all time.” This new rumor contradicts a recent report that suggested the film had entered a five-week production hiatus.
A previous report claimed that Marvel Studios paused filming after production began in the United Kingdom. That report, based on a Filmbase industry update, stated that the crew took a five-week break. The update also noted that production would resume at the end of September.
The new claim from MyTimeToShineHello suggests that filming may have restarted earlier than expected. Alternatively, the production hiatus report may not have been entirely accurate. Marvel Studios has not officially commented on the current status of filming.
The Russo brothers previously confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con that work on Secret Wars had already begun. Anthony Russo discussed the timeline, saying, “We’re prepping Secret Wars. So, it’s a complicated time in our lives, but thrilling.” Joe Russo also teased filming was imminent, stating, “Soon. So soon it makes us sweat a little bit.”
Secret Wars serves as the sixth Avengers film and concludes the Multiverse Saga. Avengers: Doomsday precedes it with a scheduled release on December 18, 2026. Robert Downey Jr. stars as Doctor Doom in the upcoming sequel.
The Russo brothers direct the film, which Marvel Studios keeps tightly under wraps. The studio has not announced official plot details or a full cast list yet. Avengers: Secret Wars currently targets a December 17, 2027 theatrical release.
