With the MCU set to undergo a soft reboot following Avengers: Secret Wars, the latest speculations have suggested that the movie will introduce a slew of new superheroes that fans have not yet seen on the big screen. In fact, recent reports have suggested that the new faces in question will hail from Earth-838, a world that contains the Illuminati, who made their MCU debut in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Avengers: Secret Wars rumored to feature never-before-seen characters from Illuminati’s universe
Renowned entertainment insider James Mack has claimed in his latest Marvel update that Avengers: Secret Wars will be introducing a fresh batch of superheroes that fans have yet to see in the MCU. According to the briefing, shared by MCU Film News, the characters will come from Earth-838, which has been absent from the universe since the Illuminati’s brief appearance in 2022.
Mack’s update comes after scooper Alex Perez made a similar suggestion in a recent Q&A session by The Cosmic Circus. During the discussion, Perez noted that “there’s a sort of hierarchy for the Resistance Avengers” that will feature in the 2027 Marvel ensemble. Further describing the factions that fans might see in such a team-up, Perez noted, “There’s the leaders (older, established figures), there’s the newbies (The younger heroes), and there’s the never-before-seen characters (there’s 3 atm).”
Neither insider specified which superheroes are poised to make an appearance in Avengers: Secret Wars.
However, if Mack’s suggestion about Earth-838 ends up happening, it could involve newly introduced superheroes emerging to avenge the Illuminati’s massacre at the hands of Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. After turning evil in the film, she managed to single-handedly kill Professor Charles Xavier, Mister Fantastic, Black Bolt, Captain Peggy Carter, and Maria Rambeau.
Marvel has yet to officially confirm any such rumors about Avengers: Secret Wars, which is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 17, 2027.
