Andrew Garfield has no interest in turning Spider-Man into a competition. The former web-slinger recently gave Tom Holland a glowing endorsement, praising both his acting and his connection with fans.

Andrew Garfield delivered the praise in a sit-down with AP News, calling Holland “great” and saying, “Couldn’t be anyone better.” He also argued that Holland was “made for the part,” pointing to his passion for Spider-Man, his care for audiences, and his strength as an actor. Garfield added that he remains excited to watch Holland’s career beyond the superhero role.
“I think it is the most important thing: how passionate he is about it, how much he cares about the fans, and how good he is as an actor. He’s an incredible actor. I’m very excited to watch him do all of his other projects as well, but I’m very, very happy that he’s the Spider-Man right now,” Garfield said.
Holland inherited the mask after Tobey Maguire and Garfield each led their own Spider-Man series. Maguire headlined three films from 2002 to 2007, beginning with Spider-Man, which earned about $805 million worldwide. Spider-Man 2 reached roughly $789 million, while Spider-Man 3 approached $885 million. IMDb currently rates them 7.4, 7.5, and 6.3, respectively.
Following Maguire, Garfield donned the mask, headlining two solo outings. The Amazing Spider-Man collected about $757 million globally and carries a 7 IMDb rating. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 grossed roughly $709 million, with IMDb giving it a 6.6. rating. Rumor has it that there were plans for a third film, but it never materialized.
As for Tom Holland, he has now appeared in four solo Spider-Man films. Homecoming earned about $881 million worldwide and holds a 7.4 IMDb rating, while Far From Home passed $1.13 billion with a 7.3 IMDB rating. No Way Home soared to about $1.92 billion at the global box office nd an 8.1 IMDb rating. The latest entry, Brand New Day, has since crossed $2 billion globally, with IMDb currently listing an 8.2 rating.
